I get to know each of the people I work with through an initial appointment, and over the course of their care. Caring, listening and understanding the needs and wants of each individual person is what drives each session and contact point. I tailor my care, which could include strategies, education, and movement / exercise. I work to empower each person through a personal, thorough and holistic approach to be able to feel and experience an improvement or maintenance (because this too is a very important thing!) in health and wellbeing.
Who I help is purely based on what the needs are, and how I can meet these needs according to what is appropriate.
Some of the common areas I support the older populations with:
- understanding pain and reducing it
- recovering after surgery and returning to day-to-day activities
- rehabilitation following joint replacements
- improvement of strength and balance
- improving walking and being able to move around the house/residence how would like to
- injury management and rehabilitation
- post-medical event rehabilitation e.g. from stroke, heart attack
- adjusting to changes occurring and modifying lifestyle
